  • KFC does chicken wrong

Has anyone ever seen the video about how KFC treats chickens at YouTube? The video's showing that chickens' beaks are being cut off and crowded together tightly. Staff throw chickens into cages and step them to death. Some other cruel processes are also in the video.

As a consumer's point of view, it's really cruel to the animals. But, what's the point of this video? Does it want to arouse the attention of the public? Maybe. Do its rivals speak ill of it? It seems to be the main reason for me.

  • My experience of getting drunk

Speaking of getting drunk, I've this experience when working in China. Once I went out with my staff and colleagues from other departments for dinner, at first, I only knew it's just a dinner and knew nothing about what Chinese culture really was.

During dinner, I found the main dish was drinking. Everyone would figure out whatever ways to let you get drunk. You seemed never to find any excuse to escape drinking. After having several ten glasses of beer, I felt a litle bit faint. I thought I'd reached my bottomline. Then, I began thinking how to get away this situation. I noticed some people would pretend to call someone; others would have an excuse to go to toilet and didn;t come back. I chose the latter.

Getting to my room, I started vomitting at the toilet every second, lying on the floor for a while, then getting up and vomitting over and over again. At last, I was lying on the floor for hours. I couldn't get up to answer the call even my cell phone was ringing. That night, I told myself, I would nevr go out with such fucking guys. But, the following day, my boss ased us out for a drink, I seemed to forget what happened last night. Our life is just like this, which we sometimes can't control it.

  • Business Liquidity

I've never guessed I'm the one of  the victims of the financial tsunami. On 23rd of Ocober, it was the fourth day since I got back to Hong Kong office from China plant. Endless suppliers called me, colleagues from finance department, and my bosses for overdue payments.

Actually, when I joined this company since June, I had found that the finance of it was not sound. The overdue payments had been accumulated to ten millions of HK dollars. It was unsual for a company. As discussing it with the colleagues at finance department, we thought the business still had a chance to back to normal. So, I decided to stay my post then. During this time, all my time was spent on dealing with vendors' overdue payments, acting as a bridge between my bosses and them, making an agreement with them on our payment schedule. Worse still, my bosses were being tied up their loads from bankers, they couldn't pay the workers' salaries as well as all payment schedules promised the vendors were to be empty words. Angry vendors blocked the gates (both the front and the back) by lorries. Container trucks couldn't get inside the factory to pick up the finished products. Production at China plant came to cease. Under this circumstance, the business was forced to close.

Toward the end of the day at 4:00pm on 23rd of October, a senior IT manager called us to his room and said our bossess decided to liquidize the company. For the oustanding salary, we were told to claim it through the Labour Department.

This is my first time to work for a firm being liquidized finally. I do hope the financial tsunami will not last any longer.

  • Excuse or the Truth?

Yesterday, I read a blogger's blog. The guy said he had a girlfriend for years. They were going to get married. This year they were busy preparing things for their marriage, such as printing the wedding cards, booking hotel, etc...

However, during this time, the guy got known another girl who was his colleague. They got to know each other when working together in a project. Since then, they got near and near and went out for dinner. He even escorted her home. As I read his article, they might have developed the relationship already. Actually the girl also had her boyfriend. The guy said it was not fair to the girl. He also knew what he was doing was "playing fire".

I gave my advice to him: You were treating unfair to your girlfriend, not the girl. Indeed, it's no wrong or right to pick up which one at this stage. You had to think over the matter before marriage. Once you chose your girlfriend and got married, then you should keep a distance with the girl. If you didn't, then the fault would be on your shoulder. I wouldn't sympathize with you.

His feedback to my advice: Thanks reading my blog. If you had read my other articles, then you would know the problems were on my girlfriend. Whether to get married or not, the right was also on her hand. I really wanted to get married with her. It was because her manner to me was not as enthusiastic as before, so my heart switched to another girl.

Is his feedback the truth or just an excuse?

Jian went on a date with Yin. Very soon, Gao realized their dating. He, of course, dislike her gf hanging out with another guy, especially Jian. He clearly knew what sort of person Jian was. He feared that Yin would be hurt. To be sure, it was a sign of jealousy. Gao regretted introducing Yin to Jian. Yin turned a deaf ear to what Gao said and kept going out with Jian. She enjoyed the time with Jian. They seemed to have endless words. She felt the distance with Gao went further and further.

Their triangular love affair soon came to tycoon Yin’s ears. Although he never got involved in her daughter’s privacy, he thought that it would ruin her prestige. So, he asked her daughter to cool down and considered which one was a friend and which one was her Mr. Right. Furthermore, he arranged Yin to leave the city for the office in France, hoping his daughter to think over the matter there.

During the cooling-off period, Gao went to work as usual and agreed to tycoon Yin’s arrangement. Actually, he really wanted to make clear how important he was in Yin’s heart. Getting off work, he went boxing. Boxing is one of his interests. He had been practicing boxing for years. Since he knew Yin didn’t like any bloody and violent things, so he never mentioned he had developed this interest before her. Jian also promised to keep this secret for him. Once after practicing, he came to a parking-lot to pick up his car, he found a girl in a car next to his didn’t start the engine of her car. He came to her assistance. Later, the beautiful girl insisted inviting him for a drink to thank his help. Gao found nothing else to do when going home, then promised to go.

Since Yin went to France on business, Jian had kept dating other girls. Sometimes he even took them to his home for a night. Actually, Jian was born to be a playboy. He concealed himself only when going out with Yin. Now Yin was not at his side, he could return to what he should be. Nevertheless, Jian didn’t give up Yin, he ordered bundles of flowers to where she lived in daily and made a long distance call to her every night until she fell asleep. Under such a romantic atmosphere in France, Yin felt the actions taken by Jian were very sweet and touching.

On the contrary, Gao didn’t take any action and seemed not to care about her gf. Why? Gao thought that they had come together for years and needed not do anything to please her. In fact, women aged 18 to 58 are likely to be well treated. Gao had forgotten the ways he used to approach Yin. This might be one of the main reasons for Jian to win Yin’s heart.

At the airport, Gao was waiting for his gf backing from France. He had been waiting for a half day, but in vain. After checking with the airline, he found that her name was not on the list. Phoning to her office in France, he came to realize that she has changed the date. But she didn’t tell him. Gao was very angry, then drove home.

Jian, Xu and Yin soon became best friends. Whenever going out with Gao, Yin invited them for company. This was what Gao didn't want. He couldn't whisper to Yin while in the presence of them. On the contrary, Yin loved the hustle and bustle of city life. Holding her birthday party, she also invited Jian and Xu to join it together.

What Gao, Jian and Xu were dressed that night became the focuses of the party, especially the two handsome guys, Gao and Jian, attracting more girls to get to know them. Most guests at the party were Yin's schoolmates and friends. As Yin's father was away on business and couldn't come back to celebrate her daughter's birthday, under the circumstances Yin deeply felt how important friends were. That night, Jian insisted on dancing with Yin. Since then, Gao didn't want to be at odds with Jian over this matter, starting to keep him at a distance and returned to the world of Gao and Yin.

One day, when Yin backed to office, a staff from personnel department introduced a newcomer to everyone. When coming face to face, Yin was shocked. This was no other man but Gao Jun. She was not told by Gao that he would join her company. Yin didn't want others to know they'd known before. Originally, when Gao knew there was a vacancy, then he applied for it at once as he wanted to see his gf every day. Later on, when their relationship got revealed, Gao picked up Yin openly and always kept an eye on his gf's actions. However, Yin was getting annoyed about it. She felt uncomfortable and an invasion of privacy. Sometimes they had disagreement at work. Such bad mood would be kept after work. They even turned their back on each other. This hadn't happened before. Yin began thinking the happy days with Gao got fewer and fewer, had the period of "honeymoon" between them gone?

Such situation had passed for a period of time. One night, Gao drove Yin home. His car broke down in the middle of a road. Luckily, it was not far from Yin's home. While Gao was busy calling a garage to pick up his car for repairing, Yin walked towards her home alone. There came a gentle breeze, blowing Yin's hair. She lifted up her eyes to the dark sky. It was dotted with  a few stars. She was counting the days she got together with Gao. It had been three years. What? It's only three years. Why did she feel it a lifetime? When she knew Gao at the first time, she felt Gao's circle was strange and Gao didn't treat her as a rich girl and tried to please her too. This was why Yin loved him. But now, she thought their relationship was just like a piece of stale bread, not fresh. How did she face this relationship? When she was deeply in thinking, a big dog, all of a sudden, was in the way. Luckily, the dog was led by its master. Who was his master? It was Jian, who Yin hadn't seen for a long time.

Yin happily said to Jian that how coincident it was! Jian told her it was not what she thought. Since the event happened at the party last time, he, as a third party, felt that Yin was less happier than ever before. So he walked the dog here and found a chance to get near her and care about her. Yin hadn't heard from Jian and Xu for a long time and she wanted to know how things were with them. As her father hadn't come back yet, so Yin invited Jian to go to her home and had a chat. Jian's dog, called "Wei Wei", was kept lying in the garden. Maybe they were long time no see, they had talked for a whole night until morning had broken. That day was a holiday. They needed not go to work. Jian asked Yin to go to his farm and paid a visit to his grandmom and cousin Xu. It was a long time for Yin not to be there. She promised to go there, but she didn't let Gao Jun know.

Online storytelling - Under the Sun (1)

Gao Jun (高俊), getting his BBA at a local university, has been working for a printing company as a department head in procurement after graduated. With only two subordinates to help him, he has to get involved in many day-to-day operations. As his name implied, he's tall and handsome. Although he's about to 30, his appearance is younger than his actual age. He loves writing, driving as well as dating girls. He comes from a poor family. Nevertheless, he tries very hard to save up money for his favor - a silver-white middle-priced Japanese car

That day, it was a holiday.  Gao Jun was driving to pick up her gf, Yin Ruogian(尹若芊). When it comes to his gf, everyone here should know who she is. She's the daughter of a well-known tycoon in the city. Are you wonder why they come into contact? One day, Yin didn't take the car driven by her driver. She drove by herself as she'd just got a driving license. As a result, she bumped the back of Gao's car. From then on, they came together.

Despite the fact that Yin comes from a rich and big family, she never takes this advantage to show off herself. This may be due to the education she received in the West. She has a good look with high-level educational background. She's only 20-something, working in one of her father's multi-national corporations. Even though the corporation is owned by her father, she works very hard and takes every matter seriously. Many rich young guys wanna approach her and try to win her heart. However, she loves Gao only. She is attracted by Gao's desire to get better and honesty. Meanwhile, Gao always takes her to some places for common people, where she's never been to. She feels very strange.

What a surprise! Why her father does not prevent her coming frequent contacts with a poor guy? Tycoon Yin has known their contacts and employed a private detective to check Gao's family background. As he knew Gao Jun is not a bad guy, then he let them keep in touch. Since the car accident, her father didn't allow her to drive alone. So most of the time she took Gao's car when they went out. Sometimes they would take bus instead of driving. But they didn't know Yin's father had employed two guys to protect them secretly.

After collecting Yin, Gao drove to a farm on the outskirts of Hong Kong and visited his buddy Jian Tiannu(簡天奴) and Jian's 12-year-old cousin Xu Erya( 許爾雅) who is studying in Form one and always comes to Jian's house on holidays. Yin doesn't have any sisters and likes playing with kids. Coincidentally, both Yin and Xu like music. Soon they became friends. The farm of Jian's grandmom has many chickens, pigs and lambs. Du and Yin went to see the lambs while Gao and Jian were watching the soccer world cup on TV.

Speaking of Jian, he has many interests, especially those exciting activities. If you think he's a lazy guy, then you'll be wron. Since he finished his degree in England and backed to Hong Kong he has been a vet trainee in a large-scale clinic, specializing in treating horses. Other than these, he's a music-lover and a part-time drummer. Though his grandmom is a British, she's more like a Chinese after living here almost five decades. Jian's parents have been divorced since his childhood. When he was in high school, his mother committed suicide. Afterwards, he moved in his grandmom's house and went to England to finish his university course. Jian was born to look like a prodigal and is full of confidence. He doesn't take love as seriously as Gao. This may be affected by his parents' separation.

  • Two girls

Rose, graduated from the University of Hong Kong, is a typical material girl. She always stresses how poor she is. Whenever going out for lunch with her colleagues, she seemed to slip her memory to pay back the money to her colleagues. When a colleague asked her back the money, she even blamed why she was not reminded earlier.

A few days ago, she bought a new cell phone worth HK$5,000 and showed off in front of the colleagues. She had money for the phone but no money for lunch. Why could she behave like this?

Furthermore, she often asked us to introduce boys to her. She listed a series of conditions to be her boyfriend: with car, his own apartment, cash deposits, etc... A guy, who loves such self-centered girl, is doomed to be miserable.

Another girl, Anne, who I knew when I attended a singing skills training class, is now living in Taiwan. Her value of love is quite strange and is walking ahead of the trend. Once she asked me," Do you know how to keep your love as fresh as possible?" At first, I thought she had the key to a happy love. Then she said," The way is to change your lover every three months. When your love with a girl or a guy goes downwards, you switch to another. Then you can always enjoy the best time of your love." I'll not criticize whether she's right or wrong. Everyone's behavior will be affected by what he/she has experienced. Anne has got married. His husband is her classmate when she studied in University in Australia. I miss her very much when my writing comes to here.

  • Happy Birthday to Yxxx

     3021863983

Tomorrow will be your birthday. Actually, it is none of my business. Someone will celebrate it for you.

Tonight, it is raining outside. Under the lamppost, I can see the rain against it. My mind is wandering now. I'm thinking... I'm thinking... Tonight,I think, is another sleepless night.

  • The come-back of bird flu in Hong Kong

20080608ap05y-s On Saturday, the government discovered H5N1 virus in a market in Sham Shui Po. This time the government took action very soon. 3000 chickens were culled immediatedly. Stallholders were banned to sell the live chickens again. The cleanup day was put ahead the schedule. The businesses of the stallholders and the chicken traders were seriously affected, around 60% losses as they said. As a result, they demanded compensation for their losses.

Our government didn't learn a lesson from the first time of the bird flu outbreak in Hong Kong. If she had learned it, then this time she would not have to make over$20 million compensation to them. When the government first made the compensation to the stallholders and traders, why didn't she say to them, "This is a one-off compensation. We will not ban you from selling live chickens. But whenever bird flu erupts, we'll still cull them in an attempt to avoid the spread of it. No more money will be paid for those affected. You have to take the balance and bear the risk by yourself." Actually, crisis management is a scope of businessmen. It is impossible for our government to compensate them forever.

In addition, when the early eruption of bird flu, some experts had made a proposal of central slaughtering house. Is our government still looking for a location? Or does she already put it on the shelf?

Please wake up and get the problem done. Don't be a passive government.
